Unlike other big events, the 61st Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show chose not to cancel in hopes it can help reverse some of the devastating economic losses of the pandemic in South Florida’s tourism and hospitality industry.

Organizers said the region could not afford to lose an event that generated $740 million in economic impact last year. The Marine Industries Association of South Florida says the industry generates 111,000 middle-class jobs in Broward County, 142,000 regionally and $8.9 billion in economic activity for the county.

Just got home from the show. It was better than I expected even though there were a lot of empty spaces. On the other hand the transportation to and from was a real mess unlike the 30 plus years I have been going.BTW the water taxi is $12 per person and will take to and from the show directly unlike the bus.
