Duluth, MN

Duluth, MN

The Duluth harbor affords a view of the city, stretching for 30 miles in a ribbon rarely a dozen blocks wide under the high bluff of the Minnesota North Shore. The symbol of Duluth is the Duluth Ship Canal Aerial Bridge (15-foot closed vertical clearance), a network of lacy steel triangles that connects downtown to the residential strip and beachfront park of Minnesota Point, one of the longest freshwater beaches in the world. The bridge rises to its full 141-foot height in merely 55 seconds. The artificial cut it spans gave Duluth its own direct entrance from the lake and, indirectly, the growth and prosperity that enabled the city to rival and eventually outdistance its twin, Superior, which has the natural harbor entrance. The distinctive North Pier Lighthouse beckons you in and is fun to visit and explore. See Visit Duluth or additional attractions and photo-ops.
