When it comes to boating, finding the right marina can greatly enhance your overall experience. WaterwayGuide.com's Explorer is an invaluable tool that allows boaters to search for marinas in their cruising area or current location. With its Marina Comparison chart, you can easily filter down the results based on your specific vessel requirements and needs. In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of using the Explorer and the Marina Comparison chart to find the perfect marina for your vessel.

Step 1: Accessing WaterwayGuide.com's Explorer

Open your preferred web browser and visit WaterwayGuide.com.

Locate the "Explorer" tab on the website's navigation bar and click on it.

The Explorer interface will appear, providing you with various search options and filters to find marinas that suit your needs.

Step 2: Finding Your Cruising Area or Browsing your Current Location

In the Explorer interface, you'll automatically be centered over your current location. If you're looking for marinas in a particular location, you can use the draggable map to find that location or utilize the search bar to type in your desired area.

Step 3: Narrowing Down Results with the Marina Comparison Chart

Once you have multiple Marina icons showing in your desired location, rather than clicking in to each individual marina for details like the "Largest Vessel" or "Dock Depth", click on the Marina Comparison tool shown below.

This will open a chart comparing essential information about each marina that is currently showing in your zoom area.

Take note of the following details provided in the Marina Comparison chart:

  1. Largest Vessel Accommodation: This information specifies the maximum size of vessels that the marina can accommodate. Ensure that your vessel falls within this range for a suitable docking solution.
  2. Total Number of Slips: The total number of slips gives you an idea of the marina's capacity and availability. Consider the size of the marina in relation to your preferences and the likelihood of finding an available slip.
  3. Transient Slips: Transient slips are designated for short-term stays, typically for boaters passing through or visiting. Check the number of transient slips available to ensure availability during your desired period.
  4. Dock Depth: The approximate dock depth is crucial, especially if your vessel requires a specific depth for safe docking. Compare the listed dock depths with your vessel's draft to ensure a suitable match.

Step 4: Narrowing Down Your Choices

Based on the information gathered from the Marina Comparison chart, select marinas that best meet your vessel's requirements and your personal preferences.

Consider factors such as proximity to desired destinations, available amenities (e.g., fueling stations, restaurants, showers, etc.), and any specific needs you may have (e.g., pet-friendly facilities, wheelchair accessibility, etc.).

Make a shortlist of marinas that align with your preferences for further evaluation.

Step 5: Additional Research and Contact

To gather more information about the shortlisted marinas, click directly into their Marina Profile. On each respective marina profile, you'll find the pertinent information you need to make your final decision. Once you decide on a marina, you can choose to contact them directly by phone or email, or you can utilize the Contact Form on their profile to submit questions or requests.

WaterwayGuide.com's Explorer, coupled with the Marina Comparison chart, provides boaters with a powerful tool to find the right marina for their vessel. By utilizing the chart's comprehensive information, you can filter down the results and narrow your choices to marinas that meet your specific needs and preferences. Remember to consider factors beyond the Marina Comparison chart and conduct additional research and communication with the marinas to ensure a seamless and enjoyable boating experience. Happy boating!

Excellent! The only possible improvement might be having an aerial view of each marina showing its layout.
