This is the story of Ginger Bond, an abandoned dog who sparked a remarkable chain of events within the Bahamas Land & Sea Facebook Group—a testament to the benevolence that thrives in the boating community.

On a seemingly ordinary day, a heart-wrenching sight on a deserted island spurred a remarkable display of human kindness. An abandoned dog caught the attention of Brittany Frantz Raabe and Nate Bottorf. Named Dragon, after the eve of the Year of the Dragon when she was found, her plight moved hearts and ignited a wave of support.

The dog, later affectionately renamed Ginger Bond for her ginger coat and the adventurous circumstances of her discovery, became a shared cause in an online community. The Bahamas Land & Sea community rallied, and within 48 hours, Ginger was under the care of Jay and Karen Campbell on Great Harbour Cay. Their quick response was just the beginning of an incredible journey.

"It's remarkable what has been accomplished by the community in 48 hours. The dog, aka Dragon, aka Ginger Bond is now in the care of Jay and Karen Campbell on Great Harbour Cay in the Berry Islands. They will serve as her foster parents for now and possibly her adoptive parents if no one comes forward to claim her," said Addison Chan, admin of the Facebook group and developer of the latest digital guide to the Bahamas in the Waterway Guide Mobile App.

Addison has also created a GoFundMe to help in Ginger's recovery and care. The campaign quickly received 102 donations amounting in $4,315.

Despite being diagnosed with advanced Heartworm, the warmth of her new family and the careful medical attention promise a road to recovery, one small meal and step at a time. We encourage you to join the Bahamas Land & Sea Facebook group for more details on this story!
