After a short stopover, the eleven boats will begin the 8,000 mile run of Leg 6 of the race to the next port of call, Seattle, WA. The "Mighty Pacific Leg" will test the mettle of crews and boats. Competing in two races during Leg 6, the teams will continue to vie for points and dominance crossing the cold north Pacific on their way to the North American continent.

Now tacking to position for the Ocean Sprint race that will end south of Taiwan, vessel Washington, D.C. sponsored by EventsDC is skippered by Hannah Brewis of Grantham, Lincolnshire. Commenting at the start of the latest leg she said, "Overnight, we've seen the wind build and build, now we have a 'delightful' 30kts true wind on the nose. For joiners it's rather a baptism of fire with the boat really leaned over and slamming into the waves. The talk of drysuits has already started as the Wizard watch this morning got drenched on the bow swapping the headsails."

Washington, D.C. will host the eleven Clipper Round the World Race boats in June 2024 after the vessels complete Leg 7 from Seattle, WA. The USA Coast to Coast leg is 7,200 miles of sailing down the Pacific, then through the Panama Canal, up the east coast and north through Chesapeake Bay to the Potomac River and into the nation's capital.

With over 15,000 miles to go before visiting Washington, D.C. all eyes are on how the vessels and crews will compete for bragging rights before completing the race back to Portsmouth, United Kingdom in August 2024. Waterway Guide Media is pleased to be a contributing patron of the Clipper Round the World Race and will be on location in June 2024 to welcome the boats, crews, and visitors to the Wharf DC.
